The Library Lot development and the surrounding proposals have been some of the most highly debated and complex issues in Ann Arbor’s recent political history. As we look ahead to the 2026 City Council elections, understanding where candidates stand on the 2025 Library Lot ballot initiatives (Proposals A & B) provides crucial insight into their broader approach to urban development, housing, and public land use.
However, some candidates have refused to make their support or lack thereof known to the public. Despite numerous public forums and detailed election questionnaires from local advocacy groups, several candidates have explicitly declined to answer questions about their voting record on these proposals, or have simply ignored the questions entirely, leaving voters in the dark.
A candidate’s stance on this issue is extremely important for gauging their views on the difficult, often contentious issues facing Ann Arbor. When politicians refuse to clarify their positions on pivotal topics like the Library Lot, it makes it harder for voters to make informed decisions about the future of our city.
This site exists to hold our local candidates accountable and to ensure voters have clear, sourced records of who supported these critical ballot measures—and who decided to remain silent.
